This street is the world famous shopping street for arts and antiques such as Imari, Kutani pottery,
woodblock prints, and water paintings etc.
This street is a part of special historical area preserved by the city of Kyoto and the national government of Japan.
You can see old fashion wooden houses painted in dark red with fine lattice work and bamboo curtains standing in line along the street.
Although Yoshi-Ima is located in very central part of the city,
you can enjoy the tranquility and all signs of modern downtown will disappear if you go into the garden.
